LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

In a recent Letter to the Editor page you posted at: http://www.slingshots.net/preview/letters.htm
you mentioned a Milbro brand slingshot, saying that it was made in the 70's in
Great Britain
Well, this letter has ignited a small debate on alt.cult-movies.rocky-horror(for fans of
the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show). There is a character in that movie
named Eddie, and in his one scene he has an object hung around his neck. There is a
debate about what that object is, with some people including me saying that it is a
slingshot and others saying that it is a spanner or some kind of motorcycle wrench.
Other than the color, the picture you posted in the above article is a dead ringer for
the mysterious object, down to the Milbro logo. However, there was in fact a Milbro
company based in Pennsylvania that makes, among other things, tools, so the debate
is far from over. A good picture of the costume is at: http://nominex.com/rarerhps/milbro.jpg
if you would like to look at it.
1. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, we would love some input on this little subject.
In your opinion, is that clearly a slingshot? And if so, any info on it would be
greatly appreciated. All us Rocky geeks who want perfect costumes would love you forever. :-)

Thanks a lot!

Dear David,

Those of you who think Eddie has a slingshot around his neck are going to be very happy.
Not only is it my opinion, it is a fact that Eddie has a Milbro Slingshot around his neck!
For more proof, the slingshot looks like it is being held around his neck by the bands that come with the slingshot.
They are square black rubber strips.

I came accross your web site a few
weeks ago when I started really looking for the Milbro company. The web
site is a terrific resource for slingshot collectors.
I always knew it was a slingshot. But especially after Sue Blane said
it was a spanner I had less people beleiving me. Thanks for your web
site and your proof. The info about the band is awesome.
Do you have any information about where to find a milbro slingshot? It
would be very much appreciated.

Larry.

unfortunately, from all the closeup pics, the band holding it around his
neck is white.. more than likely it is cord, a shoelace or something

Kent,

A few questions: How hard is it to find the Milbro slingshot? Do you have access to them or know someone who might?

Lastly, what do you think the running cost would be if someone would be willing to part with it? Please let me know as

I am a custom costumer/ clothier and would like to add it to my personal costuming collection. Thank you....

Shawn Anthony

Dear Shawn,

I have a feeling that it will be very hard to find a Milbro Slingshot. I only have a couple of them and do not want to part with them.

I would like to print your letter in Slingshot the Magazine and ask if anyone has a Milbro to sell or knows where to get one.

This could also make an interesting article for my magazine.

I have no idea how much this slingshot would go for. I do know a couple of slingshot collectors that are willing to pay a lot for a slingshot for their collection.
