TIPS FOR FLIPS

PACK THAT AMMO!

The easiest way to carry slingshot ammo is in your pockets. However, there are many disadvantages to this method. If you put ammo in your pants pocket, it mixes with your change, keys, or pocketknife and becomes difficult to retrieve. Also, if you carry a lot, it tends to pull your pants down. A shirt pocket is a terrible place because every time you bend over everything falls out.

A natural place to store ammo is in the handle of your catapult. There are several commercial models and a couple of hand made models designed to hold steel bearing or BB's in their handles. Super Sling, Pocket Socket, Power-Sling, Marksman Fireball, Victor 20, Allison Shot Shooter, Sling-O-Matic, Trumark's FSX-2000, Trumark's FSX-FO, Trumark's FS-1, Trumark's FS-1 XFO, Trumark's S9FO, and Trumark's S9.

Marksman Products carries several slingshots that have ammo holders in the wrist support. The models are 3060L Adjustable Slingshot, 3055 Folding Slingshot, and 3050 Adventurer Slingshot. The Marksman 3041 Sportsman Slingshot Kit comes with a holster that carries both the slingshot and a supply of ammo.

Barnett International has a Slingshot Ammo Dispenser that is worn on the belt.

An excellent way to carry a lot of ammo that is easy to get to is a belt pouch. An archery belt pouch works well as it holds a lot and zips shut. The leather creed pouch also holds a lot, but the snap open-snap shut feature is quicker to use. Many NCA members swear by this pouch. The Michigan Flatbanders had special pouches made that hold a lot of ammo and a slingshot or two. The pouches have a large opening that makes them good for speed shooting and timed events. The Flatbanders' performance at the Summer Nationals during the team shoot showed us how handy those pouches are to use.

Blue Skeen has one of the best ways to carry ammo that I know about. He has a pair of carpenter's overalls with special pockets or pouches, called a nail apron, sewn at the front about waist high. These pouches hold a huge quantity of ammo and permit Blue to reload very fast. The overalls also have plenty of great places to carry all kinds of catapultry paraphernalia.
